Theuns Kruger is notorious for abducting, raping and repeatedly stabbing Alison Botha, leaving her for dead.
Theuns Kruger carried out the horrific act with Frans du Toit. Theuns Kruger and Frans du Toit slashed Alison Botha’s throat so deeply to the extent that Alison Botha had to hold her own head with one hand as she crawled to the road for help. Alison Botha used the other hand to hold in the organs spilling from her stomach, where she had been stabbed more than 30 times. This incident happened on December 18 1994 in Port Elizabeth.

Somehow, the knife thrusts by Theun Kruger and Frans du Toit missed Alison Botha’s main arteries, so she did not bleed to death and was able to breathe through her severed trachea.
Dr. Tiaan Eilerd found Alison Botha on the road and held her hand until the ambulance arrived. At the time he found Alison Botha, Tiaan Eilerd was studying veterinary science. However, after he saw Alison Botha’s injuries, he decided to become a medical doctor and delivered Alison Botha’s second son.

Dr. David Comyn, presided over the emergency operations to stitch up Alison Botha’s throat and abdomen.
Judge Chris Jansen sentenced Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger to life in jail without the option of parole. However, a political decision meant that all prisoners who were sentenced prior to October 2004 had become eligible for parole.
After the parole issue, one of the attackers, Frans du Toit offered an interview on camera in exchange for a signed letter of forgiveness from Alison Botha. However, as expected, Alison Botha declined the offer.
Alison Botha has since then gone on to become a celebrated motivational speaker and writer.
